For her debut fantasy novel, Dana A. Caldwell wanted a theme that captured the mysterious, wintery feeling expertly conveyed through her book's cover.
We incorporated important elements from the story, assembling a theme with mountainous chapter headings, arrow chapter breaks, and dark, smoky part dividers. And, of course, a two-page map spread to show off the titular Twelve Kingdoms.
Dana's Review: I might be biased, but Mystic Mongoose Books gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for.

For her high seas pirate adventure, K.J. Wagner requested a nautical theme with chapter headings and scene breaks that matched the book.
We worked with Wagner to find unique graphics representing each of the Raven siblings at the top of their respective chapters. For the headings, we used a swashbuckling font to pull readers into The Raven's Revenge's adventurous plot.
K.J.'s Review: Hiring Mystic Mongoose to format my book was a choice I will never regret. She made it so easy and simple, which-- as an indie author with so much else on my plate-- was such a relief. Her work is clean and professional, and she did a great job with the ideas I gave her for the graphics I wanted. I couldn't recommend her more highly!

For her romantasy novel, K.M. Akers-Townsend requested a regal, mysterious appearance with a hint of luxury in the page break art. She had several suggested elements, including eagles, roses, lions, and crowns, and she requested older typeface fonts.
We explored a number of different graphic options before settling on a floral laurel design topped with a crown--a perfect heading for a royalty-centric story.
For the chapter headings, we found an elegant font that is sleek and readable while still having a classic feel. And what could be more elegant than the part dividers combined with poetry quotations?
K.M.'s Review: The book turned out beautifully! Since Dana is an author also, she understands that including someone in the vision of your story is a huge concern for writers. She came up with some concepts I hadn't thought of and we ended up going in an unexpected direction; but I love it! The process was pretty easy, and I'm looking forward to including Mystic Mongoose Books in my next project!
